February 4, 2008

Man, I can't believe we are into February all ready. Where is the time goin. Not a bad day here in Cooks Creek weather wise. Kind of mild and gettin a bit of snow. The white fluffy stuff that ya can almost sweep away. A shovel full doesn't weigh nothin at all.

Went to church this mornin and the preacher talked on havin a satisfied mind, on bein content. Johnny Cash had a song called "A Satisfied Mind" I love that song and have heard it a hundred times but never really listened to it until this mornin (pastor played it durin his sermon). I got some work to do. I don't got a satisfied mind. Pastor gave a bunch of symptoms on how ya know if ya don't have a satisfied mind. I failed the test. I want one. I'm going to get one but I am goin to need some help. I haven't thought of another thing since we got home from church. Not havin a satisfied mind has been playin on my mind. Wife says I need to pray on it. Sounds like good advice. Here are the lyrics to the song. Have a read and a think.

How many times have
You heard someone say
If I had his money
I could do things my way
But little they know
That it's so hard to find
One rich man in ten
With a satisfied mind
Once I was waitin'In fortune and fame
Everything that I dreamed for
To get a start in life's game
Then suddenly it happened
I lost every dime
But I'm richer by far
With a satisfied mind
Money can't buy back
Your youth when you're old
Or a friend when you're lonely
Or a love that's grown cold
The wealthiest person
Is a pauper at times
Compared to the man
With a satisfied mind
When my life has ended
And my time has run out
My friends and my loved ones
I'll leave there's no doubt
But one thing's for certain
When it comes my time
I'll leave this old world
With a satisfied mind
How many times have
You heard someone say
If I had his money
I could do things my way
But little they know
That it's so hard to find
One rich man in ten
With a satisfied mind

I am tryin to install that car hoist in my shop. Problem is I am goin to have to drill into the concrete to mount the hoist to the shop floor. My heating system has tubing running through the concrete. To drill into one of these tubes would be a disaster. I spent the better part of yesterday trying to figure out how I can mount this hoist and not ruin the heating system in my floor. I think I have located all the tubes but the footprint of the hoist is so large no matter where I place it I am goin to be drillin dangerously close to the tubes. When I say I think I know where the tubes are, I mean I know where they are within a 2 to 3 inches. There is no way of knowing exactly where they are. Wish me luck. I guess I am goin to have to drill some time or not have the hoist. Talk about nerve rackin.

Ya know what we haven't done for a spell is have a joke. Ya want to hear one? This one is bad.

What did the farmer give his wife on Valentines Day?

A hog and a kiss.

Told ya it was bad. Next time I will do better.

My son just came in from riding our $500 snowmobile I bought for them this year. Man, are the kids havin fun with that thing. The youngest daughter just got in too from goin on a sleigh ride. One of the other churches in Cooks Creek (there are 3) went out with a couple of horse sleighs. She got invited along so of course she went. That is what young uns do here in the country. Good clean fun. Outside enjoyin Gods creation. (Not sure God wanted us to enjoy it on a snowmobile). They come in all red faced and ready for supper. Probably got an appetite as big as all outdoors. I love it. This is what I work for. What I pray for and it is turnin out good.

Till next time take er easy and take er slow. Oh yea, may God bless ya with a satisfied mind.

Goodolboy

Good sermon. I certainly lack in the area of being satisfied as well. Guess I better be satisfied using a bucket with a toilet seat, as our septic is on the blink. Life in the country can get a bit challenging at times!

I hope Jim has an idea where our tubes are in the floor of this basement, in case we ever have to punch some holes in the floor.

Hope your back is okay now.
